Cajon Valley's Parental Bill of Rights (Resolution 08-25-1474 DM) Subsection A mandates the "Creation of an advisory committee or committees to review and make recommendations regarding parental notification, student privacy matters, [and] selection and implementation of curriculum and supplemental instructional materials."  While we have a Parent Advisory Council, an LCAP Committee, a PTA Council, and elected CSEA and CVEA union representatives, it is my understanding that none of these groups agendize any discussion on parental notification, student privacy matters, or curriculum and supplemental instructional materials.  While it is true that each of these groups could comment independently on the Parental Bill of Rights topics, it may be unknown to their members or simply left as a last priority item (if there is time...you know how that goes).  It is my belief that until we solicit input from our stakeholders, not just allow it, we are neglecting the promise we made to our community to prioritize the place of public input in these matters.
